First week of September starts out semi-tropical then ends more autumnal

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — While many locations across CNY only experienced a cloudy sky with some sprinkles, there was some light rain that fell at times, but none of it was neither heavy nor severe.

This will be changing over the next three days. Here’s a look at Monday’s weather to help you start the new week and final day of August 2026.

In case you have the day off or you’re going out in the evening after work or school, I would recommend bringing either an umbrella, rain jacket or both so you can stay dry and still enjoy the fair.

Unlike Saturday’s gorgeous day with high pressure over the Northeast, the next few days will feature waves of low pressure moving through New York State instead.

As each new smaller system slides through our area it will keep the humidity high and chances for rain up as well every so often.

Monday there is a marginal risk for localized flash flooding rainfall. Tuesday there is a slight risk of localized severe thunderstorms. Wednesday is a higher chances for a few severe storms mostly depending on how much sun comes out late mroning and midday.

Temperatures to our west on Sunday were warmer than what we experienced, low and middle 80s. This type of summer heat is what I have in my forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday for Syracuse…
