SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After a calm and cloudy start, Monday’s weather won’t be as fair! Showers and isolated thunderstorms will slide through at times, with a threat of flash flooding to the southwest of Onondaga County. Any thunderstorm could produce heavy rain as humidity cranks up. I think a better chance for heavy rain in Syracuse and most of the area will be later Monday night. An unsettled and active weather pattern will persist through the middle of this work week. Some spots to the south and southwest of Onondaga County could see a gusty thunderstorm Tuesday afternoon.
MONDAY: Muggy conditions with plenty of clouds, with some brief peeks of sun at times late in the day. Rain showers will develop from morning to midday before becoming scattered in the afternoon. We could also see a non-severe thunderstorm develop. Heaviest rain today looks to be just southwest of Central New York. Wind: SE 3-8 MPH in the morning, then 5-10 MPH. High: 75.

Our futurecast rainfall forecast map is putting a streak of heavy rainfall from northwest of Lake Ontario, through Western New York into the southern Tier between 8 AM and 8 PM Monday. Rainfall during the daytime will be generally light for most of CNY, although in the southwestern Finger Lakes there is a risk for 1″ of rain or more, which could produce localized minor flooding.
