Syracuse man arrested after stolen vehicle found during I-81 traffic stop

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV)– A traffic stop on Interstate 81 in Broome County ended with the arrest of a Syracuse man after officials discovered the vehicle he drove had been reported stolen.

A statement from the New York State Police said troopers in Binghamton arrested 56-year-old Mark Smith, of Syracuse, Sept. 1, following the stop in the town of Barker around 1:15 p.m.

The 2013 Mazda was travelling at a high speed when troopers stopped it. The car, troopers said, displayed a license plate registered to another vehicle…
