SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Don’t let any partial sunshine fool you. With a warm and humid Sunday afternoon in store for Central New York, the more sunshine we see, the stronger and more numerous the thunderstorms could be. It will be a changeable day, not a washout, with possible thunderstorms anytime after 1 PM. But the best chance for the worst of storms comes in advance of a cold front between 5 PM and 8 PM, when damaging winds are possible for some spots in the area. However, not for most places.
SUNDAY: Partly sunny skies with isolated or hit-or-miss showers and thunderstorms anytime after 9 AM. A better chance for scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms late in the afternoon, with one or two storms possibly containing damaging winds or small hail between 5 PM and 8 PM. Warm, humid, and a bit breezy at times. Wind: SW 5-10 MPH in the morning, becoming W 5-15 with gusts to 20+ MPH. High: 82.
