Special prosecutor appointed for retrial in case of RPD officer attack

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A special prosecutor from Onondaga County has been appointed for the retrial of Keith Williams, the man previously convicted of stabbing a Rochester police officer.

Williams is getting a retrial after newfound evidence and a ruling by a state appellate court. According to documents brought up in appellate court, Williams was diagnosed with bipolar disorder a year and a half after he stabbed Officer Denny Wright, but it was ignored during the initial trial.
