Appeals court denies Syracuse bid to overturn SU Schine Student Center tax break

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A New York State Court Appellate Division has denied the City of Syracuse’s appeal of a lower court’s decision to grant a property tax exemption for Syracuse University’s Schine Student Center. The ruling was filed on Oct. 2.

Specifically, the city wanted to reverse the decision by a lower court that ruled that the university is entitled to a full tax exemption for the student center at 200-10 Waverly Ave, for the 2022 and 2023 tax years.
