What’s next after Southwest Airlines drops Syracuse?

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — It’s not the kind of departure anyone was looking for from Southwest Airlines, barely two and a half years in Syracuse and the airline is already taking off.

“But it sounds like Southwest is really reevaluation where they want their working Boeing aircrafts to go and Syracuse maybe just wasn’t the top of their list for where they needed to have aircrafts and really continue their services,” Valerie Puma, AAA Communications Specialist with Western & Central New York, said.

Southwest Airlines giving us something similar in a statement adding in part quote, “We’re reaching out to all who are affected with their specific options and our heartfelt regret for the necessary change.” end quote.  we’ve heard from some of you with a flight after August fourth who tell us you’re booked to leave from Rochester.

“It could be a different time it might not work out for their travel plans or aren’t willing to go that far or have a ride to that far away so they can decide if they want to keep that package or they can contact Southwest Airlines and say they prefer to cancel this flight, get a refund and then basically go through the booking process again,” Puma said.
