Syracuse, N.Y. — Travelers heading to Syracuse Hancock International Airport should plan for extra time as a state road project along Interstate 81 is expected to cause delays, airport officials said.
The state Department of Transportation will begin a major resurfacing project Sunday, May 3, on a stretch of I-81 between exits 5B, 5A and 4B near Hiawatha Boulevard, Destiny USA and Exit 8 in Mattydale, according to a news release Wednesday from the airport.
While construction will not take place on airport property, overnight and early-morning lane and ramp closures south of the airport could slow traffic for drivers approaching from that direction, officials said…
