SYRACUSE, N.Y. — After years of crime, disrepair and a murder, the former Skyline Apartments in Syracuse is showing visible signs of a turnaround — but developers say a lack of communication from the city is now slowing their push to get residents moved in.
The building at 753 James St., once described as a hotbed for crime and drug use, drew intense scrutiny after the 2021 murder of 93-year-old Connie Tuari. That case led to legal action against the owners of Green National, its former owner, and renewed calls for change at the troubled complex.
Clear Investment Group took over management in 2023, and new photos provided to CNY Central show major progress compared with the building’s previous condition, including a new lobby and refurbished apartments.
