Syracuse University to start teaching students how to be influencers

Syracuse University students will soon be able to take classes dedicated to learning how to market themselves and others on social media.

A new “creator economy” minor will start rolling out during the fall 2026 semester, according to a release. It’s a joint venture between the Newhouse School of Public Communications and the Whitman School of Management.

The minor is one way SU is furthering its Center for the Creator Economy, which launched last November. The center offers student content creators a space to work on their online presence. The dedicated classroom has podcast booths, a streaming space for gamers and a green screen…
