Upstate Medical University commencement celebrates nearly 450 graduates

Onondaga, N.Y. ― Upstate Medical University’s commencement celebrated the graduation of nearly 450 future doctors, researchers, nurses, and other medical professionals on Sunday morning.

The ceremony took place at Onondaga Community College’s SRC Arena at 4585 W. Seneca Turnpike in the town of Onondaga.

According to Darryl Geddes, a spokesperson for the school, the graduates came from four colleges and were broken down as such:

  • The Norton College of Medicine awarded:
  • 176 doctor of medicine degrees
  • 14 master of public health degrees
  • three public health certificates.
  • Nine students both an MD and MPH degree
  • The College of Health Professions awarded:
  • 74 master of science degrees
  • 57 bachelor of science degrees
  • 40 doctorate of physical therapy degrees
  • 4 bachelor of professional studies degree
  • The College of Nursing awarded:
  • 30 bachelor of science degrees
  • 14 doctorate in nursing degrees
  • 4 post-graduate certificates
  • 3 master of science degrees
  • The College of Graduate Studies awarded 29 degrees.
  • Three students received both a MD and PhD degree.
