Jamesville apple grower watching for overnight frost as blossoms face critical test

JAMESVILLE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — At Adams Acres, the organic farm’s 1,400 apple trees are finally blooming — but tonight, those blossoms could face one of their biggest test yet with temperatures dropping to 32 degrees or lower Monday night — threatening this year’s crop.

“The crop is moving along to the point where it’s really at a risk,” owner Bill Adams said. “Bloom is probably the riskiest time for this. If we don’t go below 30 degrees, we’ll probably be OK.”
