Tacoma launches summer cleanup campaign focused on litter, graffiti ahead of World Cup

TACOMA, Wash. — A summer cleanup initiative is now underway in Tacoma to help improve the appearance of neighborhoods, business districts, and major gateways around the city.

Mayor Anders Ibsen formally kicked off the “Tidy-Up Tacoma: Summer 2026” campaign on Wednesday at the intersection of Pacific Avenue and S 26th Street, one of the city’s key entry corridors. The effort expands on the city’s year-round cleanup and beautification work and encourages residents, businesses, and community organizations to take part in keeping Tacoma clean and welcoming.

The initiative comes as Tacoma prepares for an influx of visitors attending graduations, concerts, festivals, the FIFA World Cup, Fourth of July celebrations, and other summer gatherings…
