PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Pierce County investigators are searching for a suspect accused of fleeing sheriff’s deputies during an officer-involved shooting early Sunday morning.
Deputies found a man slumped over in a vehicle near 72nd St. E and 9th Ave. Ct. E in Tacoma around 2 a.m. Sunday. Deputies identified the man as a suspect with multiple felony warrants, including second-degree assault, eluding police, and escape from community custody, according to the Pierce County Force Investigation Team (PCFIT).
Since initial reporting, the PCFIT has named the suspect as Skyler Cantrell, 23, who was wanted on an assault warrant from the DOC. Cantrell was convicted of a drive-by shooting in 2024 and sentenced to 1 year in prison and 18 months of community custody.
