QUINCY, Fla. — Gadsden County leaders met Tuesday night to weigh what Florida’s newly passed property tax reform could mean for local services and taxpayers, as lawmakers approved a major boost to homestead exemptions that voters will have to approve.
County commissioners discussed the county’s financial outlook after the reform passed at the Florida Capitol. Gadsden County Commissioner Eric Hinson said he expects the county to lose about $5 million from its general fund.
“Parks and recs, we stand to lose some funds, some services in those areas too as well. So it’s going to be a tough situation for the board. The board, we are looking into every area that we can look into to find funds. But this is going to be a tough year for us, especially in Gadsden County,” Hinson said…
