LEON COUNTY, Fla. — Hundreds of cars lined up outside the Leon County Sheriff’s Office on the morning of a community food distribution event, with one family arriving around 3 a.m. to secure a spot in line — a turnout officials said reflects a growing need across Leon County.
With a line of vehicles stretching beyond the sheriff’s office and onto the main road, volunteers spent the morning loading cars with fresh produce, ready-to-eat meals and other household staples. Organizers said there were enough supplies to help 350 families.
