FSU Health nurse practitioner arrested on drug fraud, falsifying medical records charges

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A FSU Health Lifestyle Medicine Clinic nurse practitioner was charged Wednesday, accused of fraudulently obtaining prescription medication through a clinic employee, according to court records.

Lee Barfield, 48, of Bainbridge, was taken into custody on five counts of controlled substance fraud and five counts of falsifying medical records, an arrest affidavit revealed.

She is listed as a nurse practitioner on the clinic’s website.

FSU’s Senior Director of University Communications Amy Farnum-Patronis told WCTV Barfield was placed on administrative leave in April “when we became aware of concerns, and the University is following standard Human Resources processes and procedures to address this matter.”…
