USPS Inspector General Investigating Mail Issues in Northeast Leon County

In response to a year-long series of complaints regarding mail service in Northeast Leon County, the USPS Inspector General has been asked to conduct an investigation, as reported by WTXL ABC 27 and detailed in a YouTube video.

Local and state officials, including Commissioner Brian Welch, have expressed concerns about the ongoing mail problems in the area.

Residents have reported to WTXL ABC 27 that mail delivery is often delayed or, in some cases, does not arrive at all.

While Commissioner Welch acknowledged that these issues are not as widespread as they were a year ago, local media revealed that his office had received approximately five reports of stolen mailed checks.

Welch has been in regular communication with US House Representative Neal Dunn regarding these issues.

“Unfortunately, the postal service has not responded to Congressman Dunn on at least three occasions that we can tell,” Welch stated on ABC 27.

Welch revealed that the next step is to reach out to the Postmaster General, indicating a proactive approach to addressing the concerns.
