Monticello man arrested for Madison County shooting that injured two on Saturday

MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) – A Monticello man is behind bars in connection with a Saturday shooting that injured two people in Madison County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Corey Barnhart was arrested on Monday in Jefferson County and charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm or ammo by a convicted felon, per MCSO.

The shooting unfolded at the Greenville Point Apartment complex around 10 p.m. on Saturday. Law enforcement says a verbal argument escalated into gunfire, leaving two people injured. The suspected shooter then fled the scene in a vehicle, according to law enforcement.

The first victim was hospitalized “in stable condition with multiple gunshot wounds,” and the second victim “received fragment injuries believed to have been caused by a bullet ricochet,” officials say…
