TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man accused of shooting and killing a pet chihuahua after it allegedly bit his child faced a judge on Tuesday morning. An attorney for Miguel Reyes Rodriguez said his client pulled the trigger in self-defense, but the prosecution asked for him to be barred from the Hillsborough County property where it happened.
Daisy Jimenez, the suspect’s wife, told Judge Murphy this is not the first time the dog that was shot was aggressive with her 2-year-old.

“I did approach her, and asked her either to do something with the dog, either to give it away or to remove it from there,” Jimenez said through an interpreter. She added the dog bit the child four times in total.
Rodriguez is currently facing three charges, including felony aggravated cruelty to animals, misdemeanor discharging a firearm on residential property, and felony armed burglary of a dwelling…
