A former Florida high school biology teacher who pleaded guilty to multiple sex-related offenses involving a student is now facing a civil lawsuit from the former student, who alleges the abuse caused long-term emotional and psychological harm, AOL reported.
The lawsuit names Brooke Anderson, a former teacher at Riverview High School in Hillsborough County, and seeks damages related to allegations that she groomed and sexually abused the student over a period that spanned several school years. The complaint also accuses the Hillsborough County School Board of negligence, alleging school officials failed to prevent the misconduct, Yahoo! said.
According to court filings reported by multiple news outlets, the former student said he regularly visited Anderson’s classroom during lunch periods while attending the school.
