TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A 20-year-old driver who was pulled over in Tampa early Wednesday morning ended up behind bars for more than just speeding after troopers said they realized he was also under the influence.
The Florida Highway Patrol said troopers first spotted Aiden Irizarry’s silver Nissan Altima around 4 a.m. near the I-275 and I-4 interchange. He was traveling at 121 mph in the posted 65 mph zone and rapidly changing lanes near other vehicles, according to an arrest affidavit.
Troopers stopped Irizarry after he exited onto State Road 574, and he was immediately placed under arrest for dangerous excessive speeding as a part of Florida’s “Super Speeder” law, officials said. The law, which was enacted in July 2025, made driving over 100 mph a criminal offense.
