Plant City dump truck driver spills 70,000 pounds of dirt after crash on Florida road: FHP

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Plant City dump truck driver carrying 70,000 pounds of dirt crashed on a Florida road on Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the 38-year-old Plant City man was driving the truck northbound on State Road 471 around midnight in Sumter County.

Crash blocks I-275 south on Howard Frankland Bridge

South of State Road 50, the FHP said the driver lost control and overturned.

The load of dirt spilled onto the roadway and forced the road to close for four hours while crews cleaned up.

The driver was not hurt in the crash…
