TAMPA, Fla. – Firefighters battled a commercial restaurant fire Wednesday morning in Tampa after heavy smoke broke out through the building’s roof.
Crews from Tampa Fire Rescue were called to the 2800 block of North 16th Street around 10:39 a.m. on September 30. Arriving units found smoke pouring from the top of the single-story restaurant and initially went inside to tackle the flames.
Shifting conditions inside forced commanders to pull the firefighters out of the structure shortly after they entered. Crews then shifted to an exterior defensive strategy, using aerial ladders and hose lines to douse the flames from outside…
