Treatment delivers chemotherapy directly to pancreatic cancer tumors

TAMPA, Fla. — A Moffitt Cancer Center patient with locally advanced pancreatic cancer is regaining parts of his daily life after receiving a first-of-its-kind, FDA-approved treatment designed to deliver chemotherapy directly to tumors.

Richard Martin was diagnosed two years ago. He said 22 rounds of chemotherapy, plus radiation, saved his life, but left him unable to enjoy ordinary activities, including eating out and riding a bike.

“I think I got down to 118 pounds,” Martin said. “Because I basically lost all my taste for food. Food did not taste good at all.”…
