The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Friday afternoon as a line of strong thunderstorms pushed across northeastern Hillsborough and southeastern Pasco counties.
Meteorologists spotted the storm line on Doppler radar at 3:56 p.m., stretching from near Plant City to near Brandon. The system tracked northward at roughly 30 mph, carrying peak wind gusts up to 50 mph. Radar confirmed the wind threat, while showing no hail.
According to the weather service, the primary concern with these storms is that “gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”…
