Book lovers in Carrollwood have something major to celebrate: Barnes & Noble has officially returned to the community with a brand-new bookstore at 13123 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, in the Palms of Carrollwood Shopping Center. The store celebrated its grand opening last week, welcoming readers back to a longtime favorite destination.
Located in the former Bed, Bath & Beyond space next to Petco, the new bookstore brings back a beloved gathering place that Carrollwood readers have deeply missed. The new space features the celebrated layout Barnes & Noble has introduced nationwide, showcasing a thoughtfully curated selection of books, toys, games, and gifts. An updated B&N Café also offers readers a cozy spot to enjoy a coffee and a good book.
Barnes & Noble celebrates nearly 30 years in Carrollwood
“We are very pleased to be back in Carrollwood only eight months after closing our previous bookstore,” said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “For 28 years, we were a gathering place for this community, and our longtime booksellers are as eager to return as they are to welcome customers into their brand-new Carrollwood Barnes & Noble.”
Importantly, the reopening signals more than just a new chapter for Carrollwood — it highlights Barnes & Noble’s broader resurgence. After years of store closures, the company is now experiencing rapid growth. In fact, Barnes & Noble opened more stores in 2024 than it had during the entire decade from 2009 to 2019. With momentum building, the bookseller expects to open more than 60 new bookstores in 2025.
