A bit like Jordan Belfort in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” the dykes aren’t fucking leaving. Ybor City hotspot Crowbar will be closed before the fall, but organizers at Dyke Night St. Pete keep booking shows at the legendary, 20-year-old Tampa venue.
The latest includes the tagline “Thicker Than G.R.I.T.S.,” as in “Gays Raised In the South.” The poster for next month’s event is giving Waffle House meets Pussycat Lounge and promises to turn the room into a straight up throwdown soundtracked by southern rap, complete with “the hottest queer+ lesbian dancers in Tampa Bay on the main stage.” Bring singles, folks.
Dyke-owned Carupano Kitchen will make hot, fresh arepas on the back patio while Empowerr, DJ Donnie Luv, and a B2B set featuring Fessi K and They Hate Change’s Vonne Parks handle tunes…
