Toledo resuming water shutoff process after six-year pause

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Toledo’s Department of Public Works is resuming its water shutoff program as of Monday, June 1, targeting customers who are behind on their bills after a six-year pause.

The city will hang door tags to start the process, putting customers seven days out from the first actual shutoff. The first shutoffs will be next week.

Customers who owe money for their water bill will receive a monthly invoice, a non-payment notice and a final notice with an eight-day occupant letter in the mail. Multiple notices will be sent over several months before disconnection…
