We the People: Sundance Drive-in brings nostalgia feeling while catching a movie

OREGON, Ohio (WTVG) – The Sundance Drive-In, one of fewer than 240 drive-in theaters still operating in the United States, has a new operator working to bring it back to its best.

Todd Williams, who previously owned Memory Lanes Drive-In in Monroe, Michigan, said he was approached to take over operations at the Sundance after the theater’s 2023 operator failed to pay rent.

“When it became available, I felt obligated to, you know, save it and do my best to keep it alive,” Williams said. “You can come in here and you can see that it is definitely an older theater and there’s a lot that needs to be done, but I’m up for the challenge.”
