Man applied for McDonald’s job before allegedly shooting stranger at kiosk

Before Kemarri Anderson allegedly shot a stranger at a South Toledo McDonald’s in May, 2025, he had written his name at the top of an application to work there.

As Mr. Anderson, 26, of the 1800 block of Booth Avenue, filled out the paperwork on the afternoon of May 19, Brandon Abbott sat nearby. The two men did not appear to interact in the hours before Mr. Anderson fired three times at Mr. Abbott, 44, who died of his wounds early the next morning.

“Mr. Abbott and Mr. Anderson never appear to have any conversation … or even to look at each other,” Toledo Police Detective Andrew Crisp said Monday during the opening day of Mr. Anderson’s bench trial…
