A 60-year-old man who brutally stabbed and beat his 63-year-old neighbor to death in February pleaded no contest to murder Wednesday afternoon in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
Bryan Laas also did not contest a repeat violent offender specification attached to that charge, as he acknowledged that he was on parole for a previous attempted-murder conviction at the time of the Feb. 15 attack.
How much time that specification will add to his statutory time for the murder count will be decided next month by Judge Joe McNamara, who scheduled a hearing on that matter as part of Laas’ Aug. 26 sentencing…
