‘It’s going to be right behind my house’: West Toledo neighbors react as construction starts on $85M water tower project

TOLEDO, Ohio — Construction is set to begin this week on a major city of Toledo water infrastructure project that will bring four new water towers and a pump station to neighborhoods across the city.

The $85 million project includes two water towers planned for Northover Road near Silver Creek Elementary School, along with additional towers at Schneider Park in south Toledo and near Holland‑Sylvania Road and West Sylvania Avenue. A new pump station is also part of the project.

City officials say the towers are designed to improve water pressure, store large volumes of water and provide a reliable backup during outages or other emergencies as demand on the system grows. The full project is expected to be completed by 2029…
