Toledo renters give their input on housing conditions

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Toledo city leaders are looking for input about whether housing conditions are negatively affecting residents’ health and safety.

Community members gathered at Reynolds Corners Library to talk about housing conditions and unethical business practices. Dozens of people at the meeting shared concerns about unresponsive landlords, poor quality of housing and price gouging.

One man in attendance was Joseph Hessling. In November 2025, Hessling’s friend passed away. While grieving that loss, he stepped up to help his friend’s partner, who found himself in a difficult situation…
