West Toledo neighborhoods see highest concentration of homicides in early 2026

TOLEDO, Ohio — Eight homicides have been recorded in Toledo through the first four months of 2026, a number that suggests a potential decrease in violence compared to the same period in previous years.

The most recent death occurred Tuesday morning in north Toledo. Leon Oldham, 44, was shot and killed in the 100 block of Bronson Avenue. Police have not yet identified a suspect in the shooting.

Eight homicides have been recorded as of late April which is a higher volume of cases compared to this time in 2024 and the same as in 2025. In 2025, the city had recorded eight homicides by mid-April. In 2024, that number was higher, with 10 homicides recorded by the end of February alone…
