OWASSO, Okla. – The City of Owasso has lifted the evacuation order for businesses in the Cornerstone Shopping Center after a reported gas leak forced the businesses to close for about a week.
City officials said since the evacuation order was issued June 18, the Owasso Fire Department has worked with Oklahoma Natural Gas and the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to monitor atmospheric conditions at and around the property.
The city said a methane gas venting system has been installed and is fully operational. After the system was installed, officials conducted extensive monitoring and found no hazardous concentrations of methane outside the buildings, in test holes or inside the businesses…
