SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — What started as one tattoo artist’s idea to help people move beyond their past has grown into a community-wide event that’s changing lives across Oklahoma.
The ninth annual Stop the Hate in the 918 brought more than 20 volunteer tattoo artists to the Case Community Center in Sand Springs on Saturday to provide free cover-ups of gang, hate and racially related tattoos.
The event, founded by Sand Springs tattoo artist Jamie McGee, began as a way to take action instead of simply arguing about hate online. Nearly a decade later, McGee says the event has become much bigger than he ever imagined…
