Central Library celebrates Route 66 centennial with culinary event

TULSA, Okla. — People celebrated the Route 66 Centennial at the Central Library for Book Eats: Culinary Adventures of Route 66.

Saturday morning, people were led on a tour down Route 66 while sampling treats from diners, bakeries, and cafes along the historic highway all while learning about its history with public speaker and author Annette Murray.

“I think Route 66 is always evolving,” said Murray. “Ever since it was decommissioned and then put back on the radar, businesses popped up again, families started moving west again. There is something for everyone; all ages can have fun.”…
