TULSA, Okla. – Fresh copper is becoming a new feature of the downtown Tulsa skyline as restoration work continues on Holy Family Cathedral.
Roofers are installing copper shingles on the cathedral’s central spire after completing work on the two smaller spires. Once the central spire is finished, crews will lower the scaffolding to roof level and begin replacing the church’s roof. The project is expected to be completed by fall.
Storm damage prompted major restoration
The work is part of a larger effort to repair damage caused by severe storms in 2023.
Construction crews have erected scaffolding around the cathedral’s three lower spires to replace aging materials with new copper shingles, preserving one of downtown Tulsa’s most recognizable landmarks.
