TULSA, Okla. – Several Tulsa-area residents reported hearing loud, sustained noise and feeling vibrations Tuesday night. Some described the sound as similar to a jet engine, with the activity noticeable in neighborhoods near the refinery.
Tulsa police told residents the department was receiving multiple calls about the noise and vibrations. Police and city emergency management said there was no emergency and attributed the activity to flares at the refinery, which can produce significant noise.
