TULSA, Okla. — A local teaching assistant is in jail accused of grabbing a 7-year-old student with special needs, dragging him over a bench, and slamming him on the ground.
Nicholas Stowell facing a charge of child abuse and resisting arrest after being arrested on Friday. He is being held in the Tulsa County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Stowell is listed as a teaching assistant at the Wayman Tisdale Fine Arts Academy in west Tulsa on the school’s website.
FOX23 reached out to Tulsa Public Schools to ask about the arrest. A spokesperson sent this statement.
“Today an incident took place at Tisdale Elementary School. TPS campus police and Tulsa Police Department responded immediately. There is nothing we take more seriously than the safety and wellbeing of our students, and additional counselors will be at the school on Monday to support the school community. As this is an ongoing investigation, we have no other comment at this time.”
