The Tulsa Health Department’s substance abuse prevention program and the StopDUI Task Force are promoting responsible alcohol consumption ahead of Valentine’s Day. They suggest trying non-alcoholic drinks, or ‘mocktails’. The two groups hosted a Valentine’s Day mocktail tutorial on Facebook Live on February 9. THD Prevention Specialist Kandice Lawson and Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Eric Kirby demonstrated how to make festive, non-alcoholic drinks.

The first recipe demonstrated was a mocktail made with a large carbonated beverage, marshmallow fluff, cotton candy, and sprinkles. The glass rim is dipped in marshmallow fluff and sprinkles, the carbonated beverage is poured in, and cotton candy is added.

The second recipe combines sparkling hibiscus red grape juice, lemon-lime soda, and orange juice. It is garnished with Valentine’s candy hearts and an orange wheel. The ingredients are mixed with ice, shaken or stirred, and strained into a chilled glass filled with crushed ice.

The third recipe is a fruity drink made with Sprite, Simply Lemonade with Raspberry and Strawberry Juice, Dole 100% Pineapple Juice, strawberries, and raspberries. All the ingredients are mixed together and served.
