Tulsa Fire Department holds annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Fire Department held its annual memorial service honoring both retired and active firefighters who have passed away during the last year in addition to honoring their families.

“Personally, this is an incredible event for me. I’ve been a part of it for most of my career, either as a member of the honor guard and now the fire chief, it is really a powerful event,” said Fire Chief of the City of Tulsa Michael Baker. “We have a lot of folks that we build significant bonds with and are friends and family [with]…To honor them, to hear their stories, to be able to tell the families that meant so much to my career and that I worked with, thank you and that I remember. I remember your loved one and they made an impression on me.”

This event marked the 29th anniversary of the Tulsa Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service and honored 15 members of the department.

“Most of these firefighters are retired from the job, some for many years or just a few, the exception this year is Harrison Moseby who we lost earlier this year at such a young age and such an early time in his career. That’s especially hard for our department and it’s especially important for us to recognize him along with all the other folks that we lost and their families, just to tell them how much we appreciate them and love them as a department,” said Baker.
