TriMet facing mass layoffs, service reductions amid ‘significant’ budget challenges

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Big cuts are coming to TriMet routes and services after the public transit agency approved its budget for next year, including a $300 million budget hole.

The board voted to cut 400 jobs, close to half of which would be layoffs, which would start on July 1.

There would also be a 10% service cut and changes to 33 lines, which include shortening the green line.
