PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland National Weather Service has intensified the Oregon and Washington heat alerts for this weekend.
Now, the greater Portland-Vancouver area is under an “Extreme Heat Warning” while the rest of western Oregon and Washington is under a “Heat Advisory“. The threat of high heat is expected to start early Sunday afternoon and last through Tuesday evening.
Temperatures around the Portland-Vancouver metro area could reach 95 to 100 degrees Sunday and Monday. Even coastal communities could see temperatures climb well into the 80s, with more inland regions warming to 92 to 98 degrees.
This will be a multi-day event where temperature records will likely be broken. Overnight lows and afternoon highs will likely see record-breaking temperatures this weekend.
