Oregon Man Charged After Dog Was Left in Hot Car for Hours as Punishment, Court Records Say

A Portland man will appear in court next month for ‘punishing’ his dog by leaving him in a car for at least four hours as summer temperatures soared close to 90 degrees at lunchtime on Saturday.

There Was an Empty Water Bowl Inside the Vehicle

According to court documents, neighbors flagged down a passing police patrol officer shortly after 1 p.m. The officer found a black dog weighing between 50 and 60 lbs in the back of a vehicle with expired license tags.

There was an empty water bowl and a small amount of food in a second bowl inside the sedan.
