Double-crash shuts down westbound I-84 near Rooster Rock, one seriously injured

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Westbound travelers on Interstate 84 through the Columbia River Gorge faced major delays Tuesday after a serious double-crash near Rooster Rock State Park shut down the highway for hours and prompted emergency medical transport response.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said the crashes happened near milepost 24, between Tunnel Point and Rooster Rock. In the first crash, the sheriff’s office said a semi hit a broken-down car on the shoulder, seriously injuring a person at the scene.

Oregon State Police provided additional details in a statement to KATU at 11:52 a.m., saying, “A commercial motor vehicle struck a motorist who was changing a tire on the westbound shoulder of the roadway. The motorist was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital.”…
