Portland man charged after series of violent attacks by his Great Dane, police say

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – A Portland man is facing criminal charges after his Great Dane, which had been designated a “potentially dangerous dog,” allegedly carried out a series of violent attacks, including one that resulted in another dog being euthanized.

Alika Chubaka Kelekele, 39, has been charged with one count of maintaining a dangerous dog, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court on August 7, 2026.

The charges stem from a series of incidents involving a Great Dane named Shadow, whom authorities had previously flagged for aggressive behavior. Multnomah County Animal Services had issued three notices of infraction in 2025 regarding the dog, and had established a “Be On the Lookout” (BOLO) alert due to prior attacks…
