Six failed deals, 24 years and $19 million: Inside Portland’s Centennial Mills saga

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — For 24 years, Portland taxpayers owned Centennial Mills while city officials repeatedly tried — and failed — to find a path forward for the historic waterfront property.

Prosper Portland says the city spent approximately $19 million on Centennial Mills during the 24 years it owned the property. According to the agency, that figure includes the cost of purchasing the property, demolition work and maintenance.
