NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Norfolk Police announced a second arrest in connection with a street takeover event that occurred on May 17 in the West Ghent neighborhood.
D’Shawn William Creque, 28, of Hampton, was taken into custody on May 26 and charged with aiding or abetting street racing or exhibition driving. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, June 2, on these charges.
Creque’s arrest follows an initial arrest of Isaiah A. Duncan-Simmons, 19, of Virginia Beach, on May 20 in connection with the same incident. Duncan-Simmons was charged with disorderly conduct and carelessly damaging property by fire.
Arrest made in connection to ‘alarming’ West Ghent street takeover
The May 17 disturbance involved a large gathering of people crowding the 1000 block of Redgate Avenue near Greenway Court. During the incident, numerous cars were reportedly driving recklessly in the area, prompting multiple calls to Norfolk Police.
